Healthy Eating Habits

Runway is reopening!! we're just a few days away from being able to welcome clients once again. This is a time to be excited and start planning how to hit the ground running. At Runway Fitness we take the stress away from your training as you are always working with a trainer. To help with your nutrition, we've put together some healthy eating habits to pick up on your return to the gym.

1- Don't rush

Your appetite, how full you feel and how much you eat are controlled by hormones. It takes time for your body to send those signals to the brain. Eating slowly is the best practice, eating slower allows your body to digest the food and send the signals to your brain so that you avoid overeating.

2- Don't shop without a list

Fail to prepare, prepare to fail! shopping without a list is a fatal error. You will be prone to impulse buys and without a strategy how will you buy the right foods for your nutritional goals.

3- Drink enough water

We've said this before and we'll keep saying it. Drinking enough water is one of the best things you can do to support healthy eating. Swapping other beverages for water will help reduce calories if you're trying to lose weight. drinking water can also prevent you from overeating and comes with a whole host of other health benefits.

4- Try one new healthy recipe per week

If you need to shake up your diet it's better not to try an overhaul but to make small improvements as you go. Start by trying one new recipe per week. Gradually you'll find recipes you like and that replace meals which aren't great for you. Over time this will lead to eating more nutritious foods and better nutritional habits.

5- Get more sleep

Sleep deprivation affects our nutrition. Typically causing us to eat more or make unhealthier choices. Getting more sleep can help to balance out our cravings. Sleeping just ONE more hour per night over the course of 7 days will give you an extra nights sleep each week!!

We hope you've found these tips helpful and you can use them to prepare for your return to the gym.
