Pilates
Pilates is low impact, which makes it a great choice for everyone. No matter your goals Pilates improves the fundamentals. Pilates will help with your posture, alignment and core strength.
Pilates exercises focus on controlling your movement.
Everything is important; the positioning of your hands and feet. The alignment of your head, pelvis and ribcage. Every muscle has a part to play in the successful completion of an exercise.
It's not just completing the exercise that makes you work, the set up into the exercise and the transition out of exercise are all part of a Pilates class.
Pilates teaches you how to breathe while exercising
Poor quality breathing is evident in the majority of clients training sessions. Pilates teaches you how to breathe through exercise. Using your diaphragm and intercostal muscles. this ensures you activate the correct muscles for each exercise.
Using pilates breath technique prevents you from shallow breathing. which can cause tension in the neck and shoulder muscles.
Your body is intended to move. So move it.
Working on the movement of your body translates into a better all round physique and quality of life.
Movement keeps your joints healthy, your bones strong and aids circulation. Without it the human body would deteriorate.
Pilates is suitable for all fitness abilities. It can help those new to exercise and can be a serious workout for those who are seasoned pro's.
At Runway Fitness we run pilates classes twice a week and also work with clients on a 1-2-1 basis.
We've added 3 exercises to this weeks blog which we think you should try.
